Mingde College has systematically enhanced its collaborative framework with other colleges, departments and academic subjects. We not only coordinate a multiple curriculum, ranging from general education courses, public courses, and departmental common courses, to internship and practice courses, but design specialized courses and interdisciplinary courses for students’ personalized learning. The College’s signature course “Mingde Introduction to Humanities” is sponsored by “Golden Courses Project” and extended to high schools, and “Chinese and Western Civilizations in Dialogue” is sponsored by “Wu Yuzhang Course Project”.
“Mingde Introduction to Humanities” aims to nurture students’ professional literacy in the humanities, ultimately to foster a better system of vertically and horizontally integrated understanding. Comprising twelve thematic areas across literature, history, philosophy, Chinese studies, and art, the course explores various perspectives and imparts the foundational knowledge and methodology in the humanities. Its objective is to ignite passion for learning in students, to equip them with learning methods, and to encourage the formation of academic thought.
“Chinese and Western Civilizations in Dialogue” features lectures by distinguished scholars in various fields. The course focuses on five core subjects: literature, history, philosophy, Chinese studies, and art. By addressing specific issues, it offers freshmen a comprehensive introduction to different humanities subjects in the first semester, facilitating an understanding of fundamental questions and research methods. It creates effective guides to students’ future specialized studies in the humanities.
